A shop you can trust
Luray Import Service, Inc. is located at 3 Painter Street on the east end of town in Luray. We know that finding a highly skilled, experienced, honest and professional repair shop is both important and difficult. We believe an informed customer is a satisfied customer.
How we work
When you bring your car to Luray Import Service, we:
- Quickly and correctly diagnose the problem
- Work out all possible solutions
- Find the lowest cost repair options
- Call you with the problem, your options, the estimated cost and completion date
- Complete the repairs according to your instructions
- Let you know when the work is done
- Go over the work with you when you pick up your car
- Give you a detailed, computer-generated bill listing all parts and labor separately
Your car’s history, on file
Because of how we bill, we keep a computerized record of all work done on your vehicle, including notes and observations made during repairs.
- If we tell you your brakes are thin or a tire rotation is coming up, we will have a record of it the next time you come in.
- If you sell your vehicle, you can request a copy of your repair record at little or no extra charge. That can be a major selling point.
Why it costs less here

Diagnostics
Superior diagnostic ability is the cornerstone of the shop. Diagnosing the problem quickly and correctly saves you labor costs and unnecessary parts.

OEM parts
We use Original Equipment Manufacturer parts whenever possible, for the best fit, material and function. We can usually get them the next day at the same or lower price than the parts stores.
Labor
Northern Virginia and Maryland shops charge $170 to $250 an hour, and the Harrisonburg area averages about $150. We also save you money by never replacing parts you don’t need.
From the shop: a botched brake job
A customer came in saying the brake pedal felt spongy. We found the caliper pin had been forced through the side of the dust boot instead of through its opening, exposing the lubricated pin to dirt from the road. That caused the brakes to stop working properly, and it would keep freezing up until the boot and pin were replaced the right way.
